RAC Institutions

The Rochester Area Colleges (RAC), first organized in 1970, consists of 19 area institutions including twelve private colleges; four, 4-year public institutions; and three community colleges. Included among the RAC institutions is the University of Rochester, a major research university with a Medical Center and the Warner School of EducationRochester Institute of Technology, the 15th largest private university in the country, focuses on technical and artistic career education and home to the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. In addition, twelve of the four-year RAC institutions have accredited teacher education programs that produce approximately 8% of total teachers graduating in New York State as well as majors in mathematics and science disciplines. Monroe Community College, Finger Lakes Community College and Genesee Community College are all RAC institutions that provide a broad range of associate degree programs in science, math and various technologies. In conjunction with many of the four-year RAC institutions they also offer "2+2" programs leading to bachelor degrees in science, math, and engineering as well as science and math teaching.
