Science Olympiad
Division C
Regional Midwestern
February 9th, 2008
The Science Olympiad competition at SUNY Brockport on Saturday Feb 9th was a very tight contest. Twenty-one teams competed for the right to represent the Rochester area at the state tournament at US Military Academy West Point, New York on March 14 and March 15, 2008. A few of the 23 events that the teams competed in ranged from Astronomy, Herpetology, and Physic Lab, to Electric Vehicle.
Teams came from Batavia, Rush Henrietta, Kendall, Gates Chili, Dansville, Brockport, Webster, Pittsford, Greece, and East Rochester numbering 26 in this year's competition. The difference between first and second place was just one point over the whole competition, with Webster Schroeder nipping Webster Thomas. Also representing the Rochester area at the state tournament will be Brighton and Fairport that finished 3rd and 4th.
The Science Olympiad would like to thank Dr. Mark Noll, Chairman of the Earth Science Department at SUNY Brockport for arranging the site for this year's competition. Events were written and supervised by members of academia from all parts of New York State. We wish the teams going on to the state tournament the best of luck.
