Rochester Engineering Society
Founded in 1897, RES is a multi-disciplinary society uniting diverse disciplines to enhance professional development, foster excitement in math and science for the next generation of leaders, and improve communities where members live.
American Chemical Society Rochester Section
The Rochester Section is one of the most active ACS local sections, and sponsors a wide variety of professional, educational, and outreach activities for the benefit of its members and the general public The Rochester Section serves Monroe, Orleans, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, and Wayne counties in upstate New York. There are currently over 900 members of the section, many of whom work for employers such as Eastman Kodak, Xerox, Bausch & Lomb, and the University of Rochester. The Section is also the home of the prestigious Harrison Howe award, which is given annually to a scientist with an outstanding record of accomplishment and who holds great promise for further achievement in chemistry.
Association of Mathematics Teachers of the Rochester Area
AMTRA is an organization dedicated to the support of mathematics teachers at all levels. Its purpose is fourfold:
to ensure better coordination of all activities of mathematics groups in the region; to afford a medium of exchange of view regarding the teaching of mathematics (K - 16); to further the cooperative study of problems relating to the teaching of mathematics at all four levels: elementary, junior high, senior high, and college; and to encourage active interest in mathematics and mathematics education.
Rochester Academy of Science
The Rochester Academy of Science is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing its members and the community with a means to study and learn about astronomy, anthropology, the life sciences, minerals, and fossils. Each of the sections listed below have programs and activities to promote this goal.

Rochester Lapidary Society
The Rochester Lapidary Society (New York) is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating its members and the community about minerals, gems, fossils, stone cutting, stone carving, polishing, faceting and jewelry making. The Rochester Lapidary Society also has quite a collection of library books, magazines, and videos on lapidary, rock and mineral collecting, jewelry making, and much more. All members are allowed to borrow anything from the library as long as they return it the following month, or at one of our many workshops.
NYSUT
NYSUT is a federation of more than 1,200 local unions, each representing its own members. We are affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the National Education Association (NEA).
