2008 Collaboration Event Feedback

2008 Collaboration Event Feedback

At the 2008 STEM Educator Collaboration Event, participants were asked to evaluate each session they attended and the conference as a whole. This feedback was of great value to us as we reflected on the Event, and have begun to plan for next year. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with such significant feedback!

The responses show that the Event was a big success. Over 90% of your surveys indicate the event was valuable, and an even higher number enjoyed the Welcoming Address by RAC-CEMS Executive Director Charles Brown, and the Keynote Address Speaker Barb Bancroft.

Most who attended the Poster session found it offered a nice change of pace and a valuable chance to network. Some thought it was too long, and would have liked to see more posters focused on Technology.

Overall, facilities were rated positively; however, some found the rooms to be a little cool. The food seemed good, and many people enjoyed the pace of the conference, commenting that the breaks between sessions offered time to talk with others about their experiences.
• "An excellent event. Very pleased to have participated!!"
• "The session lengths were sometimes too short, sometimes of adequate length, depended on which session. Nice balance of sessions. Exceptional keynote speaker."
• "Disappointed that we crossed picket lines. Additional Comments: The pace was super! I liked that workshops were not back to back. Food was very tasty. KUDOS!"
• "I loved the time between to talk to other teachers and the presenters. Good sandwich time to talk to others."
• "I truly enjoyed this conference. It was great to hear different perspectives from professionals in math and science field rather than just teachers. I learned a lot from meeting with others and made some connections that will hopefully help my students wish to pursue careers in those fields or at least see the importance of them. Thanks for organizing this event!"

Most attendee's expectations were met, many were exceeded, and the feedback of individual sessions reflects the high level of learning which took place over the two days. Parking was definitely an issue to be resolved through future planning.

As for next year, there was a wide disparity of feelings about when the conference should be held…most said they prefer an early fall conference, but those who prefer another time of the year range through winter, spring and summer. We appreciate the amount and quality of feedback, and look forward to seeing you at future events.
